- Matching : Selection of two pieces of hide which takes into account their colour as well as their appearance, for example the configuration of the scales.
- Tab: Long part of the watchstrap, at six o’clock (i.e. attached at the end of the watch head), which ends in a rib and where the holes are drilled.
- Buckle: Short part of the strap at twelve o’clock, where the buckle and two loops are adjusted.
- Splitting: Cut in the hide in the direction of the thickness.
- Trimming: Thinning of the hide edges, in a smooth and uniform slope, which starts from the full hide and ends in a thickness of a sheet.
- Marking: Marking the line where the sewing will be performed with a compass.
- Stamping : Stamping of the hide indicating the position of each stitch and the distance separating them.
- Squaring: Softening the “square”, the ridge of the hide.
- Saddle stitch: Hand sewing performed using a single thread and two needles, which are crossed over in each hole, ensuring a greater resistance to the assembly.
