Finished

Our watchstraps are created by our artisans and hand sewn with unequalled precision.

Our taste for meticulously finished detail (saddle stitching is essential), the focus on hand work and the precision of each movement makes us give priority to hand sewn watchstraps. The leather pieces are keep in a curved wood clamp, the “belle-mère”. The thread is covered with beeswax in order to make it easier to run it through the leather, where the holes are made with an awl. A needle with an evolved shape makes it possible to make each stitch by “working” on it.
The saddler ties each stitch with a simultaneous movement and a equal tension of the two hands, ensuring incomparable solidness and refinery.

Creation using specially equipped sewing machines is another much-used method based on aesthetic or economic decisions. Machine sewing is much more resistant to saltwater, perspiration and dampness.

The threads are run various times along the final stitches to ensure a “locking” of the sewing, then the projecting threads are stopped and burned with a hot point which cauterises and prevents fraying.

This operation even if it appears minor, requires rigorous precision and concentration.
To complete the sewing work, “hitting” of the stitches with a saddler’s hammer on a marble block is used to completely attach the thread and leather.

You can certainly select from a wide range of colours of linen thread.
